Solo Golf in Bangkok and Pattaya: What to Check Before Booking

ThaiFun · 2026-10-06

When travelling to Thailand alone for golf, start by asking whether your chosen course accepts a single player on your chosen date, and how the tee time would be arranged. Submitting a form does not secure a place. Being willing to join other golfers does not guarantee that a suitable group will be available. A little flexibility with dates, times and courses gives the reservations team more options to consider.

This guide explains what to confirm for a solo trip. It is not a live list of tee times or prices. The course’s response and your final confirmation should be the basis for your arrangements.

1. Check single-player rules before choosing your date and course

Give the actual date, rather than simply asking for “a weekday next week”. Ask how single-player rules apply to that date and whether holiday conditions affect the arrangement. Even a Monday-to-Friday date may need a separate holiday check. Provide a preferred time window, a second acceptable window and whether you can change the course or date.

Siam Country Club’s official booking page restricts single players and five-player groups to weekdays. That rule cannot be extended to every course in Bangkok or Pattaya. The page describes an enquiry followed by a response about available dates and further details; submitting it is not a confirmed booking. Source: Siam Country Club booking page

Thana City’s official course page offers booking and contact routes, but the page checked for this guide does not specify single-player rules. Ask about your chosen date directly. Source: Thana City course page

2. Separate an enquiry, a waiting list and a confirmed booking

A reply saying that someone can check availability, or a quotation, does not mean that a tee time has been secured. Ask whether the request is still being checked, awaiting a group, on a waiting list or confirmed. Obtain a record showing the course, date, tee time and number of players.

Booking as a single player is different from playing alone. The reservations team may need to check arrangements for joining a group. If you are happy to play with other golfers, say so, and ask whether the arrangement still depends on additional players. If a group has not been formed, ask when a decision will be made and what happens if it does not come together: a different time, another course or cancellation. An attempt to find a group is not a guarantee.

Keep transport and other activities adjustable until confirmation arrives. If you have a flight or a fixed evening commitment, state the latest time you need to leave and ask for an assessment. Do not assume that a round will definitely finish within your deadline.

3. Use one checklist before paying

Check what the quotation includes and what must be paid separately. Request a breakdown covering green fees, caddie fees, buggy hire and other charges. Ask how any tips or payments at the course should be handled. Use the table below, and request missing information before committing.

Item Details to obtain in writing
Tee time and status Course, date, time, one player; confirmed or waiting list
Group arrangements Whether joining a group is required, whether it is formed, and what happens if it is not
Costs and payment Currency, total, inclusions, separate charges, deposit and payment deadline
Changes and cancellation Cancellation deadline, refund terms, date changes, rain and no-show conditions
Club hire Left- or right-handed clubs, available specifications, cost and reservation status
Transfers and luggage Hotel, collection time, journey coverage, golf bag and suitcase capacity

Payment should also be matched to the booking confirmation. If a deposit is requested while the enquiry is still pending, ask what happens if no tee time is secured. Obtain clear cancellation terms before paying.

4. Confirm club hire, hotel collection and the return journey separately

For club hire, give your handedness first. You can ask about shaft or size requirements, but availability must be confirmed from actual stock. Siam’s form includes left- and right-handed rental options; selecting one does not reserve a set. Source: Siam Country Club booking page

For transport, provide the hotel name and address, passenger count, number of golf bags and number of suitcases. A vehicle with space for one passenger may not have enough luggage capacity. Check whether the service is one-way or return, whether waiting is included, how time changes are charged and whether your final destination is the hotel or somewhere else. A transfer arrangement for a different hotel or city cannot simply be reused.

If you need language assistance, explain where it is needed and wait for confirmation. Caddie service alone does not establish that a Chinese-speaking or bilingual caddie will be available.

5. FAQs and an enquiry template

Can I play golf as a single player in Bangkok or Pattaya?

You can submit a solo enquiry. Acceptance, tee times and group arrangements must be checked with the chosen course for your date. There is no single rule covering every course.

Is solo booking always impossible at weekends?

No universal conclusion can be drawn. Siam publishes a weekday restriction; other courses and holiday arrangements require separate checks.

Does agreeing to join a group guarantee a booking?

No. Both the group arrangement and tee time need confirmation. Ask for a decision deadline and an alternative if no group is formed.

Does a quotation or submitted form confirm my booking?

No. Obtain an explicit status and a record of the course, date, time and player count. A waiting-list place is not a confirmed tee time.

Can I hire clubs when I arrive?

Ask about stock in advance, giving your handedness and acceptable specifications. Confirm the cost and reservation status before deciding whether to bring your own clubs.

Can hotel transfers be arranged too?

Include the request in your enquiry, but confirm transport separately. Supply hotel and luggage details, and check journey coverage and collection time.

A look at a Pattaya golf course
