Planning a Thailand Golf Trip: Courses, Hotels and Transport

ThaiFun editorial team · Published / updated: 5 October 2026

Start a Thailand golf trip by deciding how many days you want to play, your group's needs and your budget. Then arrange hotels and transport around courses that can actually be booked. Photographs and reputation alone are not enough to choose a course. Check visitor eligibility, tee times, included fees, and how golf bags and luggage will travel. If family members do not play, plan their activities and transfers alongside the golf itinerary.

This guide offers planning advice for first-time golf visitors, friends and families travelling to Thailand. Information checked: 5 October 2026. Course eligibility, availability, fees, facilities and service arrangements should be checked before departure and confirmed in writing for your trip.

Decide how golf fits into your trip

Would you like to play every day or alternate golf with city activities? Are your playing partners at similar levels? Does anyone need to hire clubs? Will family members travel with you without playing? These answers help shape the destination, accommodation and transport more effectively than starting with a list of famous courses.

If time is limited, shortlist a few preferred courses and alternatives, then finalise them after confirming eligibility and tee times. Avoid committing to every hotel and transfer before finding that your preferred times are unavailable. On a first trip, consider rest or flexible activities rather than scheduling every day around a tee time that cannot be adjusted.

Type of trip Needs to establish first Planning suggestion
First golf visit to Thailand Playing level, club-hire needs, visitor eligibility and booking process Confirm one main golf arrangement, then add other activities
Friends travelling together Each person's playing days, golf bags and individual requirements Agree shared requirements before handling individual differences
Golf and a family holiday Family activities, transfers and meeting arrangements Plan the golf and family itineraries together
A golf-focused trip Course locations, tee times and rest Assess accommodation against course routes, not just its city location

If someone is unsure whether they will play, state this early and ask how changes to player numbers are handled. Travelling to a course together does not mean everyone is eligible to play.

Choose courses by location, then confirm booking eligibility

List the locations, your playing level, budget and dates, then ask about visitor eligibility, tee times and any requirements. This guide does not rank courses using their own promotional claims or guarantee availability for any date.

For example, Thai Country Club's official address is in Bangpakong, Chachoengsao. Alpine Golf Club's official address is in Klong Luang, Pathum Thani. These provide examples for understanding course locations. Finding both through a “Bangkok golf” search does not mean they are in the same area or can be conveniently scheduled together. For a holiday that includes the coast, you could also research Pattaya. The Tourism Authority of Thailand's destination page mentions golf courses in the surrounding area. This provides destination background, not evidence of a particular course's visitor eligibility, prices or availability. Tourism Authority of Thailand: Pattaya

These courses and destinations are research examples, not a list of ThaiFun partners or confirmed arrangements. Check each course individually. Describe how long you have played, your usual playing habits and what you hope for so the organiser can help assess the options. Confirm any specific eligibility requirements or course rules directly.

Choose hotels around course routes, not just hotel ratings

For a golf-focused visit, check the relative locations of each course and hotel before comparing accommodation. For a family holiday, also consider meals, family destinations and rest. No single hotel area suits every course and traveller.

Provide the full English hotel name and address so the organiser can check the pick-up location. For an early tee time, ask whether breakfast arrangements meet your needs. If you will move to another hotel after playing, assess the vehicle for golf bags and all luggage together.

Discuss whether staying in one hotel would reduce packing and handling, or whether separate stays fit your destinations better. Compare the convenience of staying put with the transport needed each day rather than room prices alone. This guide does not give fixed journey times: routes and road conditions still need assessment.

Give the transfer provider golf-bag, luggage and tee-time details together

Choose golf-transfer vehicles around players, golf bags, luggage and accompanying family members together. State how many golf bags you have, whether they have travel covers, and the number and dimensions of other bags. Player numbers alone do not establish vehicle capacity.

Once tee times are confirmed, discuss hotel departure, arrival at the course and the return transfer. Follow any course requirements for advance check-in, preparation or registration rather than assuming a universal allowance. Explain whether you will return directly to the hotel, stop for a meal or travel elsewhere, and confirm waiting and change conditions.

If family members need a separate transfer, list that route from the start. Do not assume one vehicle can serve both course journeys and independent family activities at the same time. Ask the organiser to reconfirm vehicles and costs if passenger or golf-bag numbers change.

ThaiFun's golf service information includes transfers and tailored planning. Provide passenger, golf-bag and luggage details alongside tee times when asking about return journeys. Actual vehicles, courses and times need confirmation for each trip. ThaiFun golf trips

Break down Thailand golf-trip costs before comparing quotes

Make sure quotes cover the same dates, passengers, courses, accommodation and transport needs before comparing inclusions. This guide does not supply prices or assume every course charges in the same way.

Cost item What to clarify
Green fee Which date, course and playing arrangement does it cover?
Cart fee Is it included, and what are the usage rules and charging basis?
Caddie fee and gratuities What is included, and who should confirm tipping arrangements?
Hotels and transport Room type, nights, transfer routes, waiting and road charges
Other expenses Are club hire, practice, meals, accompanying visitors and extra requirements charged separately?

Ask about the caddie fee and gratuities separately, rather than treating them as one item. Do not apply amounts from another traveller's online account to your booking. Check the current course information and quote, listing each item where necessary. Non-playing family members may have different visitor, transport and activity needs; list and confirm these separately too.

Before paying, understand booking eligibility, payment deadlines, cancellation, rescheduling and weather arrangements. Conditions depend on the course and booking. Do not assume rain guarantees a refund or rescheduling, or that any particular fee can be cancelled.

Hypothetical example: combining golf and travel over four days and three nights

This illustrates an itinerary structure; it is not a sold package, an actual customer trip or a confirmed set of tee times. Suppose two golfers travel together and want two rounds, with the remaining time for rest and sightseeing, and flights that allow the following structure.

Day Hypothetical plan Confirm before finalising
Day 1 Arrive, transfer to the hotel, rest or explore nearby Flights, luggage, check-in and transfer
Day 2 First round, followed by the hotel or a meal Eligibility, tee time, golf bags and return transport
Day 3 Second round, with flexible activities afterwards Second-course route, fees and return arrangements
Day 4 Check out and transfer to the airport around the flight Airline deadlines, all luggage and departure time

If non-playing family members join, they could have separate activities on days two and three and meet afterwards. Alternatively, reduce the golf to one round and spend more time together. Check course-facility access, accompanying-visitor rules and children's admission directly with the course. A clubhouse's existence does not establish that family members can freely use it.

If flights and available tee times differ, swap or reduce the playing days. Keep the trip's purpose clear and adjust its structure rather than forcing every visit into a four-day, three-night plan.

Put golfers' and family members' needs into one enquiry

Copy the following template. Mark undecided items “not yet decided” and explain where you would like planning assistance.

Hello, I would like to enquire about a Thailand golf trip.

You can also prepare the text using ThaiFun's trip-brief feature. The website organises requirements only; it does not send an enquiry automatically or create an order. Send the enquiry yourself and obtain confirmation of your arrangement.

Frequently asked questions

For my first Thailand golf trip, should I choose hotels or courses first?

Start with the number of playing days and priority courses. Confirm eligibility and times, then compare accommodation and transport. If family activities are a priority, consider their destinations alongside the courses.

Does finding a course online mean I can book it?

No. A public website is an enquiry reference, not proof of visitor eligibility or live availability. Confirm the booking process, applicable conditions and available dates individually.

If a quote includes a caddie, do I still need to ask about gratuities?

Yes. Ask about the caddie fee and gratuities separately, and check the quote and course information for your trip. Do not treat them as a single expense.

Can non-playing family members come to the course?

Check the chosen course's accompanying-visitor and child policies, accessible facilities and possible charges. You can also plan separate activities and transfers without assuming all facilities are available to them.

Can I count a golf bag as an ordinary luggage item?

Describe golf bags, travel covers and dimensions separately, then assess the vehicle with other luggage included. The same passenger numbers can require different arrangements when the items differ.

Can I always cancel a round if it rains?

Do not assume this. Confirm the course's and booking provider's weather, cancellation and rescheduling conditions beforehand, including how to notify them and obtain confirmation.

Once your dates, playing days, golf bags and group needs are ready, message IG @thaifun.bkk to enquire about your Thailand golf trip.
